Wednesday, 08 October – Hamelin Station

We stayed at this sheep station 4 years ago and just had to come back here.  As well as running sheep the owner here rounds up the feral goats (there’s hundreds of them along the highway) and sends them to nearby Geraldton where he gets about $50 per head.  They are then exported to Indonesia.

We had a look at the Stromatolites in the nearby sea (not very exciting) and at the old telegraph station (also not very exciting).  I think the old quarry where shell grit blocks were cut to build several of the local buildings was marginally more exciting.
