By the time we arrived at Karratha from the Millstream-Chichester national park some of the jar lids in the fridge had unscrewed themselves on the corrugations (not an uncommon occurrence). At at least this time the jars had not also upended themselves.
As we drove down the highway we were amazed at all the mines and ports along the way. The ore trains have 240 wagons and the mines without railway connections have a continuous stream of trucks, each with 4 trailers ferrying the ore to port. I’m guessing that at this rate Western Australia will be sold (mainly to the Chinese) down to sea level by the year 2563.
Karratha seems to be thriving with all the money from this gas and iron ore. And, the locals say there’s more to come.
