We said goodbye to Hamelin Station and headed south again, this time to Oakabella Station. On the way we checked out the historic village of Northampton, probably WA’s first mining town and first government railway that ran to the port at nearby Geraldton. Anyway the pies were nice.
Soon after arrival at Oakabella we set up camp in the paddock, had a cuppa and set off for the all important property tour. The homestead dates back to the 1870s and is reputedly the most haunted house in WA (not sure what data was used to quantify the claim). The lady tourguide takes on the task with passion trying to contact spirits through the house. She soon had Gordo and yours truly sized up as sceptics. It was still good entertainment.
