Wednesday 25 June to Thursday 26 June - Farina

We set off from Quorn caravan park with David and Chris and travelled all the way to the main street to have coffee in the old emporium. This building has been refurbished and stocked with many household items from the 1930s. Of particular note is the ‘flying fox’ thingy used to take money from the sales counters to the cashier at the rear of the store.

Eventually, with the weather gradually improving, we set off towards the Oodnadatta Track. By afternoon we reached the ruins of Farina where we camped in a beautiful spot. We only now feel the holiday has started and have decided to stay 2 nights at Farina so we could explore the ruins and other points of interest.

Our second day at Farina was spent exploring the ruins and the old cemetery. We have renamed this place ‘Flyrina’ due to the thousands of small resident flies that came out as soon as the day warms up after the very cold nights.
