Yes, the road is fairly corrugated for the first 16Km, and it is very winding (both in the horizontal and vertical planes) but a fairly easy and interesting drive. There were 6 minor wet crossings and many dry ones. It was only 70 minutes drive from the caravan park to the NP visitors centre. Easy as.
The campgrounds are some of the best around for a NP and before long we were set up the tents and the heap of other camping paraphernalia and were having lunch.
The first walks were Echidna Chasm, which is spectacular, then a nearby lookout and lastly a bush food walk. That’s enough for one day.
Next day we drove to the other end of the park and walked around ‘The Domes’, into Cathedral Gorge (again spectacular, especially in its huge scale) and finally to Piccaninny Lookout. Buy then it was about 35 degrees and definitely enough for most of us.
